When managing stock in a business, it is very important to accurately track at what cost products are sold and what profit is being made. In HishabPati, besides purchasing products, you can also add products to stock. In other words, products are always sold from the first batch first. Let\u2019s assume you have a single product and its stock is as follows\u2014<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First batch: 100 pieces, purchase price 50 BDT per piece \u2192 total cost 5,000 BDT<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second batch: 100 pieces, purchase price 60 BDT per piece \u2192 total cost 6,000 BDT<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Total Stock<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> = 200 pieces<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><b>Total Stock Value<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> = 5,000 + 6,000 = 11,000 Taka<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then you sold 120 pieces at a selling price of 70 BDT each.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>According to the FIFO method, the cost of goods sold (COGS):<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First 100 pieces from the first batch \u2192 100 \u00d7 50 = 5,000 BDT<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next 20 pieces from the second batch \u2192 20 \u00d7 60 = 1,200 BDT<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Total COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) = 5,000 + 1,200 = 6,200 BDT<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Sales revenue:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 120 \u00d7 70 = 8,400 BDT<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><b>Profit:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 8,400 \u2013 6,200 = 2,200 BDT<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the sale, your remaining stock will be\u2014<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second batch: 80 pieces, purchase price 60 BDT per piece \u2192 total cost 4,800 BDT<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Total Stock Value<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 4,800 Taka\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this way, the combined total of all your products will be your total stock value. By clicking on \u201cView Details\u201d in this report, you can easily understand which product, from which batch, and how many units were sold.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><b>What happens if you record or edit a purchase after a sale?<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s assume your stock was:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First batch: 100 pieces, 50 BDT per piece<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second batch: 80 pieces, 60 BDT per piece<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You sold 120 pieces \u2192 according to FIFO<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First 100 pieces (50 BDT each)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next 20 pieces (60 BDT each)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Profit = <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2,200 BDT, remaining stock = 80 pieces (60 BDT batch)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, if you <\/span><b>initially entered the purchase price of the second batch incorrectly as 60 BDT and then edited it to 70 BDT,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">then following will happen\u2014<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new stock value of the 80 pieces remaining in stock will be \u2192 80 \u00d7 70 = 5,600 BDT<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In future sales, the COGS will be calculated based on the new purchase price.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sale made before this edit will remain unchanged. Change in sales quantity<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, the sale changes from 120 \u2192 100 pieces<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 20 pieces will return to stock (to the 60 BDT batch of the second batch; products always return to the batch they came from, at that batch\u2019s purchase price).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The stock value will be updated.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The profit from the sale will also be updated according to the new calculation.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u09e8. <\/span><b>Change in selling price<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, the selling price changes from 70 \u2192 80 BDT per piece.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COGS will remain the same, but the sales revenue will increase.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, the profit will increase.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>3. Whenever your device comes back online, the data will automatically be transferred to the server.
